April 1984 —– Sept. 1999

White Male Cat

I WAS 14 WHEN I GOT MEW–

I PICKED HIM OUT OF THE LITTER CAUSE HE WAS THE QUIETEST—

LATER ON AS HE GREW UP HE WAS KNOWN AS “THE MOUTH”—

MEW AND I ALWAYS HAD SOME KIND OF BOND—

I DON’T KNOW QUITE HOW TO DESCRIBE IT–

BUT I KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM–AND HE KNEW EVERYTHING

ABOUT ME—UNSPOKEN–WE EVEN HAD A SPECIAL “CAT CRY”—

IF HE COULDN’T FIND ME–HE’D DO THIS CERTAIN CRY–AND I WOULD

ANSWER HIM BACK—AND HE’D COME FLYING UP THE STAIRS

OR FROM WHEREVER HE WAS—AND VICE VERSA—

HE HAD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WHITE FUR AND PINK NOSE AND PAWS—

I COULD ALWAYS TELL WHEN HE WAS TIRED BECAUSE THEY

TURN REALLY PINK–AND HE WOULD COME AND LAY WITH ME—

HE USE TO BUG ME EVERYTIME I ATE ICE CREAM—

ID ALWAYS SHARE—-BUT–ONLY IF THERE WAS NO CHOCOLATE—

HE UNDERSTOOD—HE WAS THE BEST— I MOVED—

AND NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO BRING HIM WITH ME–

MY MOTHER AND I DECIDED TO HAVE HIM STAY WITH HER AND

HIS BROTHER SKINNY–THEY WERE BOTH OLD AND SKINNY

JUST WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO–

MY MOTHER HAD GOT 2 IRISH WOLFHOUNDS–AND WELL—

THE CATS STUCK TOGETHER—I TOLD MY MOTHER—

WHEN I GOT MY OWN PLACE–ID BE BACK FOR MEW AND SKINNY—

I NEVER GOT BACK FAST ENOUGH—I FEW WEEKS AFTER I LEFT–

MEW AND SKINNY RAN AWAY—SKINNY NEVER CAME BACK–

MEW HAD TO BE PUT DOWN CAUSE HE WAS SO SICK WHEN

HE CAME HOME– MY MOTHER TOLD ME MEW WOULDN’T COME OUT OF

MY OLD ROOM—HE WOULDN’T EAT—OR USE HIS LITTER BOX–

HE WAS SOOOO SICK—MY MOM SAID EVEN AS HE WAS BEING

PUT DOWN HE WAS PURRING—WHICH WAS SO LIKE HIM—

HE HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TEMPERAMENT—

I NEVER GOT TO SAY GOOD-BYE—

I NEVER GOT TO SAY THAT I DIDN’T LEAVE HIM–

SO HERE IT GOES……

MEWY AND SKINNY—I AM SO SORRY—

I HOPE YOU DID NOT RUNAWAY BECAUSE I WASN’T THERE—

PLEASE KNOW THIS—-

I LOVED YOU THEN—I LOVE YOU NOW–AND ILL LOVE YOU FOREVER—

AND IF WHAT THEY SAY IS TRUE—-

YOU ALREADY KNOW ALL OF THIS—ILL SEE YOU GUYS SOON–

GUDRUN
