In the year of 2000, I purchased a German Shepherd puppy named Lady Duchess from a breeder who I had met a year before.
My aunt Kim was looking for a dog at the time, and she said that if I found a German Shepherd, she would want one, so I passed the word onto the breeder.
Then, in the year of 2000, the breeder was contacted by a veterinarian who had found a dog that they said was part German Shepherd. The dog was extremely thin, and had been found with her legs tied together with duck tape, and her mouth tied shut with duck tape in the front of the vet office.
I told my aunt Kim, who took the dog for 25.00, and we found out that the dog that I named “Miracle” was actually a wolf mixed with German Shepherd. Soon, we discovered her gruesome story.
Her father had been a shepherd, and her mother had been a wolf. She had been raised with the wolves, and caught by some cruel people and taken by them. They had cut off half her tail, and they had beaten Miracle to the point where she was completely crazy.
Whenever somebody went to touch Miracle, she would pee on herself, crouch on the floor, and shake uncontrollably.
Kim took Miracle and kept her for four years, and Miracle would only trust Kim and me.
But Kim had a baby, after trying for more than 8 years, and she could not keep Miracle with the baby…so I took Miracle to find her a home.
I found out that Miracle could live in the wild, because it was discovered she knew how to hunt. I began to contact wildlife reserves: they would not take her because she was only 1/2 shepherd. So I contacted no kill organizations, who refused to take her because she was 1/2 wolf!
Nobody would help me, and I could not keep her because vets in my area would not treat a dog that was 1/2 wolf, even though Miracle was perfectly normal than me.
On the 4th of July, some cruel children came into the yard and decided to destroy all the progress that Miracle had gotten. They got a rope around Miracle’s throat after chasing her to the ground, and they beat her with several sticks. I tried to stop them, and was engaged in a fight, when two of the children tied a sparkler to her tail, and lit it. Miracle was fine, but I was angry.
My own two dogs, Toby, a lab/bassethound mix, and Buddy, a collie/hovawart mix, attacked the kids, and they left, but by that time, Miracle was completely insane, and after 2 weeks with no progress I was forced to take her to a shelter and have her put to sleep. At the time I put her to sleep, nobody could touch Miracle, or she would literally go to the bathroom (both) on herself, and she would make herself throw up if you tried to go anywhere near her.
It was because of cruel people that Miracle suffered and died. If the men had left her in the wild, she would have been fine. If the kids had not attacked her, she would not have gone insane.
Miracle was beautiful, standing the full height of a shepherd, with thick, silver and black wolf markings. She had the colors of a wolf, with the looks of a wolf, but the size and tail of a german shepherd.
For Miracle...may no other know her pain.
