Nicky was a baby bird I found at my local high school. Some kids were torturing her. I rescued her and brought her home. If I’d have left her there the kids would have ended up killing her. She adopted me as her mother and my dog, Lassie, as her playmate. She would run after me down the hallway, with Lassie beside her, when it was time for one of her many feedings. Unfortunately she was epileptic and did not live more than a few months after her rescue. She forever touched my heart and the lessons I learned from her love.
I will never forget.
