" Nikki Noel Horn " Nov. 1986 ---- July 19 2000

My dear sweet Nikki came to me as a Christmas gift in 1986
and for almost fourteen years she provided me and my family
with the most beautiful and most wonderful love imaginable.
I was only nine years old when she came into my life.
She watched me grow up into a young adult while I watched her grow old.
There was a growing fear that lived inside of me as she grew older because I
knew that someday I would have to say good-bye.
That sad day came the nineteenth day of July of the year 2000.
My heart felt as though someone had ripped it from my chest.
A month earlier Nikki had developed a small growth above her right eye
that grew to enormous proportions so she was taken to the vet to
have it removed. She made it through the surgery but she was in awful
condition as a result. We brought her home to spend what ended up being her
last night at home. The next day we noticed she wasn't getting any better
so we took her back to the vets office where she spent her last hours on
earth hooked to an IV. The next morning we received a call from
the vet notifying us that she had passed away during the night.
We buried her in the yard about forty feet from our house and we made her
a beautiful grave that was only fitting of our beautiful Nikki.
As I write this tears rush to my eyes for she holds a special place
in my heart. My little blonde Pekingese is gone but I know that my
little Nikki will be waiting there to greet me as I enter the
gates of heaven when my time comes to leave this earth.

you very much!
