" Nutmeg "
April 25 1995
Ever since I started posting online I've been known as 'nutmeg.'
I chose that name because of a very special little cat who shared his brief
life with me.
I adopted Nutmeg... a patch of black velvet with rays of sun as his eyes...
on 'Black Friday' of 1994. At the time he'd been so malnourished abused
and neglected that he looked like a 3 month old kitten but the vet told me
he was just over a year old. I'd had no intention of bringing another pet
home that day but from the moment our eyes met I knew it was fate. He and I
were only together... here on earth anyway... for 6 months. During that
time he was battling a terminal disease... Feline Infectious Peritonitis...
but he refused to give up until he'd fulfilled his life's goal.
Consequently I would not give up on him either.
In the short time we had together he taught me what it means to strive for
your most passionate goals love without bounds live each day to the
fullest and touch everyone you can reach in a way that will bring a smile
to their heart.
