Pokey found us when he was only a puppy. He wasn’t in very good condition. He wasn’t house broken either. I shared good times and bad times with him. Sometimes when I was watching a movie I would curl up next to him and watch it. He was the friendliest dog I had ever met.
Then when he was eight or nine he started coughing up flem constantly. I knew he wanted to go on to the next life but I wasn’t ready for him to go and when my parents told me they were going to put him down I burst into tears like baby that wants its mommy.
The next day we took him to the vet and he started coughing again. I could see a little spek of blood in the flem. When the vet came in my dad told him what was wrong with Pokey. The vet said he probably had lung cancer and that there wasn’t anything he could do for Pokey. So my dad told him that we should put him to sleep. The vet gave pokey a shot and Pokey got really limp and fell asleep but he wasn’t dead yet. The vet said we could stay and watch but we didn’t want to so the vet gave us his collar and we left. When I got home I called my friend and
told her the horrible news.
I needed someone to talk to and she was the only person I wanted to talk about it with. I still miss Pokey very much and I will never forget him.
Pokey you are still a part of me and
I’ll be looking for you when I cross over.
I love you will all my heart,
