Prima a.k.a. Primara by The Davis Girls / Marielle, one of the girls.

Prima was the first and only horse any of us ever had. She was a bay color, with four white stockings. She may have been over 20, but she was still as spunky as a filly. The way we got her was like a fairy tale. Me and my two sisters had gone away for the weekend. My dad went out to look at her, and ended up buying her. When we came back, he took us out to the ranch where she was kept, and handed us an envelope. Inside, was a poem.

“An old poem says,[when buying horses]
one white foot buy ’em
two white feet try ’em
three white feet be on the sly
four white feet pass ’em buy.
But I do not hold with that.”

At the bottom, it said, “Surprise, girls! Prima is yours!” We loved her and cared for her for over a year, until she developed a hoof disease. Putting her down was the most merciful thing. Goodbye Prima,
we will love you till
the end of time!

Note: Poem is from movie “True Grit”, with John Wayne. Not a horse story, but still a good movie.

We will always love you!
