Prince Velvet LaGeorge by Shawna Finstad / Mama

Dear Prince,

You left us to find brighter, healthier, and happier days. You are in Heaven and I will be so happy when I can see you again. I miss you so much. You gave me unfailing and unselfish love through the years. Whenever I was happy I would share it with you. Whenever I was sad, you would be the one I would hold onto. Now you are not here and I feel a void, an emptiness, in my heart. Soon, the tears I am shedding and the void I am feeling will be replaced with all the loving memories I have of you. And there are thousands of memories to think about and be thankful for. You were an angel in my life.

God sent you to be my best friend through the years and you were always a faithful and true companion. You were more than just a pet; you were my baby, my friend, and my comforter. I will never forget the way you ran around the yard with your ears flapping in the wind. You had the most beautiful silver coat. Now I imagine you running around in Heaven having a grand ‘ol time. You are no longer in pain and you can eat and drink again. You can stand up on your own and snuggle up in your new bed whenever you please. I walk by your bed and imagine you lying there.

I stand at the window and imagine watching you playing outside. I sit on the couch and imagine you are in my lap. I sit at the table and imagine you are begging me for my food. I lay down on my bed and imagine you are snuggling up right beside me and nudging your head against me because you want me to pet you more. My heart is hurting so much, but I know you are in a better place.

I thank God that I was able to spend special time with you the night before you left this world. You lifted up your head and looked into my eyes and then laid your head back on me. I knew you were saying goodbye, and so was I. I prayed that you would feel comforted, and I know you were. I prayed that God would put his loving hands on you and take away your pain, and I know He did. There was an angel waiting for you. You told all of us goodbye and passed away the next morning. You met the angel with your tail wagging and ears flapping. You will truly be missed until the day we meet again. I love you my Little Prince.

Love,

Mama

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and
all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time
on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then
of a place that’s trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again
to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow,
and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful —
lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows
as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort
as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body
was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them,
but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you,
to tell you I’m alright
That this place is truly wonderful,
then a bright Glow pierced the night.
‘Twas the Glow of many Candles
shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held
your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together
in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord
no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me,
we’re never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and
listen with your heart.
