" Pryncesse "
1973 ---- 1984
Collie
Her name was Pryncesse; she was born in 1973.
I received her in 1975 as the result of a kind friend helping
me through my divorce. She had no problems adopting me
as her second companion person; it was the perfect match!
I had always wanted a Collie - growing up watching 'Lassie' on
TV and all those 'Lassie' and 'Lad' movies & books just made
my desire to have a Collie stronger.
She was very sweet and affectionate to all - loved children,
especially when they were eating!
I was very proud of her always - not just her magnificent
appearance but of her gentle nature.
Besides being sweet and comforting she was also protective.
We were at a street fair once and she jumped between another dog
and myself getting her own leg bitten in the process.
Fortunately it wasn't a severe bite!
One of my favourite memories of her is riding in my old
Triumph Spitfire convertible - she loved the feeling of the
wind in her fur!
She also loved being groomed - even enjoyed the hair dryer!
She became ill in 1984 - couldn't retain any food and
lost control of her hind legs - and we had to sadly send her
to the Rainbow Bridge.
I still miss her 15 years later.
I will always love Pryncesse - my Collie with the beautiful
spirit to match her beautiful coat!
I do believe that she and my mother are both up there
waiting for me.
