Psych by Heather & Larry Wagner / Your loving family

Psych was the “first born” animal child in our home. He was born on April Fool’s Day 1995 so he had to have a name that went with the theme of the day. Although not a cat person I (Heather) went to my friend Jennifer’s house to see her cat that gave birth, per Jennifer’s request. There he was, this grey and white ball of fur calling my name. He had a half black and half pink nose, and I knew from our brief encounter he was to one day come home with me.

Psych has always been a cat with an attitude. He walked around with a proud stride as if to say “I know I am better than you”. As a kitten he was full of energy but actually a pretty well behaved cat. Not like the past cats in our home, Psych knew right from wrong just like a human does. Psych was also very cooperative to work with. At 1 year old Psych learned how to sit and fetch like a dog, and he also knew how to jump up on a person’s shoulder if
he wanted to be held.

Psych had a passion for catnip. When ever we bought him some we knew a laugh was right around the corner. He would start by slightly sniffing the catnip getting a little more aggressive with each smell until his face was completely submerged into the leaves (to the point of grinding on them). Once he had a good “buzz” going he would throw his body on the catnip then roll around on the floor with an occasional “meow” of delight. This catnip play would last about 15 to 20 minutes until he was totally intoxicated while we were in tears with laughter.

Psych developed a tumor on his back between his shoulder blades in January 2006. The tumor gradually grew and didn’t bother him much. Around the first of March a second tumor was growing next to the first, but this one would grow daily and ended up being twice the size of the first. Psych lived to see his 11th birthday that was celebrated by wearing a Spongebob Squarepants birthday hat and eating a can of tuna. We knew that he wouldn’t be around to see anymore birthdays so we wanted his last to be a special celebration. With his body rapidly deteriorating and the tumors growing bigger than the size of a golf ball we knew it was time to let him rest in peace. He is now pain free and playing with his cat brothers Trouble and Harley in Heaven.

Psych leaves behind a family full of love. His family includes his Mom and Dad (Heather & Larry) and Brother Zach (12 yrs). His animal siblings were Labrador canine brothers Daytona (6 yrs), Talladega (4 yrs) and Bristol (2 ½ yrs). The nicknames given to Psych were Psych-o-man, bubba, darn cat, and sancho man.

You brought us so much joy Psych!!
