You came into my life on a wet and windy day,
A beautiful black ball of fur,
You had been left abandoned to become a stray.
I took you into my home and heart,
Never once believing that we would ever part.
Over the years you became my friend, my companion with lots of love,
Until The Dear Lord took you to his home above.
It broke my heart in your final days,
As you tried so hard to stay with us in your old ways.
A light has gone out since the day you left,
Leaving us heartbroken and bereft.
I pray The Dear Lord will take care of you in heaven above,
Until the day we are reunited with all our love.
