Queen

Collie

I was a child when we first got her.

At first glance I was frightened to death of her.

She was excited running around after my father barking increasing

her excitement. As we got to know her she would nibble on our bodies,

careful not to nip the skin. Everywhere we went she would follow.

She was one of the gang. She fell in love with us and we fell in love with her.

There were two things that she was afraid of: one of them distant gun

shots and the other thunder. One time she heard a gun shot and started

running. When she stopped she was two communities away.

She was lost. Luckely someone who knew her saw her and brought her

back to us. We were so happy and relieved.

She protected us closely. She would make the T.V. Lassie look foolish.

I’ll never forget when she was stung by a bee on her long nose.

She was a collie so you can imagine her nose being swollen.

She looked like her nose was blown up into a balloon.

We put fudge sticks on her nose to stop the swelling.

So many precious memories I have of her.

She was stolen from us twice. Twice she triumphantly returned.

I guess with a dog as beautiful as you and loving everyone wanted you.

Who could blame them. Fifteen years we spent with you.

Time played a cruel trick on you. You were so laden with arthritis and pain

that we could no longer watch you suffer.

The hardest thing we ever had to do we had to do.

Cancer had even taken over your body. We kept you until we

could no longer. Gently you were laid to sleep.

We buried you close to watch over you as you did us.

I can see your grave in the yard as I think of you.

Time goes by but time will never let me forget you.

Fifteen years Queen you were the Queen of our hearts

and today you still are.

Love your family
