Our Beloved Razzle Dazzle
To the absolute Best companion God has ever given us the privilege to live with. You will Always be in our Hearts and our Lives. We will miss you dearly!
We Will Forever Love You Raz!
Raz was the most gentle “human-dog” we have ever had in our lives. Raz, a Japanese-American Akita, came from Alaska, where my FiancĂ©, Janice and her ex-husband, Jim had purchased Raz as a companion about 6 years ago. Raz was meant for Jim, but after taking Raz through training and obedient classes, Raz quickly became Janice’s dog. 3 years later, Janice and Jim decided after
15 years of marriage, to part.
Janice relocated to Jamestown, North Dakota along with her horse (Neo), 14 yr old Collie (Mookie), 14 yr old cats (Soji, Scorpio & Q), and
3 yr old Razzle Dazzle.
On the trip from Alaska, Raz experienced Bloat, an illness where the stomach twists. After 1 week of being hospitalized and laid up from surgery in Billings Montana, they were finally able to continue the trip to North Dakota. Raz was the main ingredient in Janice’s depression therapy. “Without him I would not have made it” Janice said. His selfish ability to comfort her amidst the great pain
she was in was most admirable.
I met Janice in the fall of 2003. The first time I met Raz, we had a moment of testing each other out. He accepted me as I did him, and we grew to be the best of friends. Janice and I moved in together a few months later.
Janice worked mostly evenings as my work was done in the daytime running a business from my home office. Raz spent most the day between the living room with Janice, and the office. Again, showing his true selflessness in sharing his companionship with us both.
While Janice worked, Raz and I would play and just share the moments, I know I will always cherish. I have owned dogs all my life, yet there has never been, nor will there ever be another able to give me the “Friendship” as he did. While being new to the area, I didn’t know anyone. Raz was truly the only friend I had aside from Janice. And what
a great friend he was.
May 2, 2005 – Raz became sick, throwing up with diarrhea. He had done this on other occasions where we would take him to the vet and he would be given some medicine for pancreatitis and sent home where within a few hours he would make a full recovery. Assuming he had fallen down with the same thing, we decided we would take him to the vet in the morning and make him all better again. About 7:30 the next morning, Janice called me into the living room with the words I wish I would have never heard,
“Donnie, Raz just died”
She had heard him take his last breath.
We are both devastated at his passing.
Necropsy showed he had a twisted intestine. While he must have been in great pain, he knew from his previous injury, how to deal with it gracefully,
therefore showing little signs.
Raz, we are both so sorry we didn’t recognize the state you were in. We are so sorry buddy. We would do anything to go back. There is nothing we wouldn’t do
to have you back home.
We love you so much. We will never forget your Faithfulness, Selfishness, or your Loyalty.
We will NEVER forget YOU!
Donnie and Janice
You will forever be in our hearts!
