Farewell to Rex – Ben von Baron’s Reich
When you went to your new home years ago I knew you were going to have a wonderful life. You belonged with Leo and Kathy. It was a match made in heaven. They gave you a wonderful life and you gave them a very handsome, loveable and cherished companion.
I am happy that you remained part of my life. I was very lucky to have our visits together. I still remember you a fuzzy little puppy. I remember you stealing Baron’s bed in my bedroom closet! Still not sure if it was because it was Baron’s bed or it was because it was my closet??? You and Baron shared a very special friendship. The two of you made a very impressive pair.
As time went on Dixie went to live with you and Asta became a bigger part of your life and our visits continued. You were always very happy to see me. I am sure you remembered me as your first “Mom” but it was also that you were thanking me for letting you live out your life in a dogs “heaven on earth”.
I will always have memories of you in the Maui room, my office and the game room. They were your favorite places in my house when you came to stay with me. It didn’t take you long to find your favorite spot for the week and I always knew where to find you!
Our mornings were also very special. You would walk around the yard very slowly inspecting every inch of my yard. I never could figure out what you were looking for. After you were done with your morning sniff you would scratch your back on the shrubs and head back inside to your spot.
One of the nicest surprises was when we figured out that you and Heiko not only got along but you became the best of doggie friends! You would light up when you saw Heiko and he always was VERY happy to see you. I am sure Heiko misses you just like he misses Asta.
So many good things happened in and around your life. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
