Ripley by Loretta Muckerheide / Mommy

They say that angels walk among us, and that we are blessed when they enter our lives. I would have never guessed that my angel, my blessing, would have been covered in fur.

But, then again, maybe that’s exactly the purpose that God intended for our four-legged friends. For no matter what form our friends take, I do believe they all hide angel wings beneath that fur.

They bring us friendship and love, and comfort us daily with their presence.

And, as much as my beloved Ripley brought to me, maybe she never belonged here on earth; for I know she was an angel hiding among us. She stayed here just to bring happiness to my life. To remind me there was always someone who loved me unconditionally.

And like so many angels their time with us is always too short. It seems that angels can’t survive here with us for long; they must go home and wait for us there.

So Lord, I thank you for my angel, my Ripley. And please welcome her by your side with open arms and hold her tight. Remember to let her know that I will see her soon, and tell her she no longer has to hide her wings from me, because I knew all along that she was my angel, and I will be there to hold her once again; my beloved, my angel, my Ripley.
