ROCKY
He was a stray black and white cat possibly a few years old that I took in during the summer of 1984. At the time I had Tiger who was also a male black and white cat that had been with us for a little over a year. It didn’t take him long to establish himself as the dominant cat and it became a problem the first while to keep him away from Tiger.
I chose his name after seeing him defend his territory on a few occasions against a few other cats that came by. He was a scrapper. He didn’t back down from any cat that came by and challenged him.
He would jump on my lap the moment I sat down in the kichen or living room, and rub his cheek to mine a number of times before proceeding to make himself as comfortable as possible. I guess this was his way of showing his gratitude for being accepted as a family member. I have many fond memories of Rocky in the 4 1/2 years that he was with us.
Rocky was a healthy cat until cancer overtook him the last month of 1988. His suffering ended on January 21st 1989 when he was put to sleep in the Vet’s office.
Farewell Rocky. I’ll always remember you.
