We came to your rescue
When you were barely 3-wks. old.
An article in the newspaper
Is where your story would unfold.
You were such beautiful kittens
From a litter of six.
But your mama got killed –
Streets and traffic don’t mix.
We then made a phone call
Our appointment was booked.
From the moment we saw you
We knew we were hooked.
You were all so fluffy and tiny
It was hard to tell you apart.
But there was something special about you
You captured a place in our heart.
We brought you home and loved you
You needed all the care in the world.
Feeding and washing and cuddling –
You were our new baby girl.
Your face was no bigger than a quarter
You fit in the palm of my hand.
You grew up such a beautiful kitty –
The best in all the land.
You were a part of our lives
For only six short years.
Never did we expect a call –
That brought our eyes to tears.
Little did we know …
When we left for Maine ‘that day’
It would be the last time that we’d kiss you –
Or we wouldn’t have gone away.
On the day we got home, there was a butterfly
As gracious as could be.
I thought for a moment, and pictured it –
As a messenger for my cat, Ruby.
It circled around, in an upward flight –
Almost landing on my shoulder.
How I wished that she was here right now …
So that I could hug and hold her.
Since then, I’ve seen numerous butterflies …
Truly a sign from above.
That My Ruby is safe, and is sending them …
Her Butterfly Angels of Love.
Love and Hugs,
Ruby |
