Collie
Rusty was my best friend
we rescued him from the pound.
He was the most gentle dog.
He was abused and had seizures sometimes
in the beginning of his
life with us.
He got the best care possible
and after awhile had less and less of them.
He was taken better care of then
myself sometimes but he was worth it.
Rusty loved to eat fruits and vegetables
and I often gave him a small piece as a treat.
Rusty loved his walks and especially
when little kids called him "Lassie".
He thought he was so special and he was.
His life with us was very rewarding.
Not only for us but for him too.
He received so much love and attention
and had fun playing with his brother and sister
(our two other dogs "Rocco and Ariel").
Rusty developed a Herniated Disc in his back.
We took him to the best doctors and
he needed to be operated on.
So there was no question in our minds
that this needed to be done to make his life pain free.
(When it comes to my dogs-money is no object).
The operation was successful
but he was only home a week
when he developed "Bloat"
which in a dog is life threatening.
He survived that operation too
but died when he was coming off the anesthesia.
The loss that we felt
when he died is overwhelming.
A part of my heart was ripped out that day.
I will never be the same.
Rusty taught me alot about the person I am
and want to be.
Rusty has touched so many lives
and people still tell me how much
there is a void in their lives.
It comforts me
see when a person came to visit us
Rusty would always greet them with a smile
something I have never seen a dog do but he did.
I miss that smile.
Rusty leaves behind his brother Rocco and sister Ariel
myself and my Husband
Rob many Aunts Uncles family and friends.
Rest in peace my baby
I will see you again.
Wait for me on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge
we will
be so happy to see you!
