Rusty by Laura & Mike

Rusty was a very special member of our family for almost
ten years.
Never did I expect to fall totally in love with
this beautiful red dog.
He stole my heart.

I think in a former life Rusty was a football player.
He loved to hike rocks all over the place.
His next favorite thing was to catch snow balls
in his mouth.
The higher you would throw them the more he would
try harder to catch them.

His favorite place to lay was my husband’s recliner.
He would lay his head on the coffee table next
to the chair and watch the birds and people
especially kids on bikes.

When he got sick I thought he would get better but
his kidneys were not working.
We had a mini hospital and gave his I-v’s daily and
all this medicine which he hated.
It became so hard to give him his medication and
then he wouldn’t eat much.
I began fixing him cheese burgers, pizza anything just
so he would eat.
Then he wouldn’t eat any of his favorite things.
He wouldn’t bark at any more bikes or
watch the birds or even wag his beautiful tail.

It was the hardest decision to put him to sleep.
I hated having that power over his life and could he
forgive me.
I hate certain times of the night when he would go for
his walks and bed time, he would sleep in our bedroom.

Well, Rusty rest in peace and I’ll meet you on
Rainbow Bridge someday.
Love you and will never ever forget you.
Laura

All my love forever,

Mike and Laura
