My Friend Sam
When I first came home with my new human Mom she was eager for me to make new friends. I remember one of the first friends I ever made was Sam. She had told me that morning that we were going and when she came home from work I couldnÆt wait. I had no idea what to expect. When we pulled up to the house I was excited. I smelled her and I couldnÆt wait to meet her. My human opened the car door and I ran as fast as I could to the front door. All of a sudden I heard a “WOOF”. I listened to my human say her name and tell her that she was a good girl by that time I was so excited I thought I was going to bust down the door. Finally SamÆs human dad Bill opened the door.. I couldnÆt believe what I saw. She was the most beautiful Great Dane I had ever seen.
That night we went for a walk together the first walk with Sam. I watched her play and fetch a half deflated black and white soccer ball. She would always bring it back for more. If it werenÆt for Sam I would have never learned how to walk without a leash. I knew that night I had made a new friend. Not too long ago my human Mom came home and told me that Sam was sick she said she had cancer. I was very sad that night; I wanted to go see her.
Finally we went to go visit. I knew when we walked in she didnÆt feel good. So I gave her a kiss and helped her protect the backyard. I knew when we left that it would be the last time I would see her alive. I canÆt wait to see her again. I know when it is my turn to cross over the Rainbow Bridge she will be waiting on the other side with her deflated soccer ball in her mouth waiting for me.
