Sammi by CRO family / You adopted parents Greg+ Andrea

Sammi showed up on our doorstep 4 years ago accompanied by her emaciated mom. We slowly gained her trust and she showed up almost daily for food and water. As a feral she remained wary of us and we felt lucky if she would let us touch her or stroke her back a little. When she was really hungry she would rub against us and purr and meow and look at us with those beautiful golden eyes. Her gray fur was always well groomed and soft.

We tried trapping Sammi on multiple occasions but never succeeded. Saturday we bought a live trap of our own so we could catch her and get her spayed this week.

Sammi had multiple litters and 2 of her offspring we managed to get neutered still visit once in a while.

There are 4 kittens of hers living in our spare care engine compartment and they are just weined.
I didnt see Sammi since feeding her this morning which was unusual. I did some errands and saw a buzzard in the field across the road from us. I looked out the window later and saw there was a bald headed eagle checking something out. I grabbed my camera to get a photo of the eagle and it took off.

On investigating wha tthe eagle was snacking on to my horror I saw it was Sammi’s remains.
Even though she was feral she worked her way in to our hearts and will be missed. My wife and I both cried for our loss and the kittens loss.
Please spay and or neuter ferals in your area.
Sammi I will miss having you greet me on
the way to the car when I go to work.

You were wild but still ours,
Sammi
