Scrappy by Tammy Hatch & Chris Storey / Mom, Dad, Buster, Rusty, Diesel, Robbie, and Anubis

Sweet little Scrapper. You came to us 2 1/2 years ago as a hospice adoption. We originally were going to foster you but within 2 days I called the shelter and had them send the paperwork to formally adopt you. We knew at that we may have limited time with you and that was okay as long as you knew what love and comfort was. Within 6 months of being adopted we added another diagnosis diabetes followed by Cushings Disease. We fondly called you our little “train wreck” You didn’t let anything stop you and always did your little dance when you saw us come home. A year ago we got another blow when you were diagnosed not with just heart disease but also with fibrotic lungs.

I brought you home that night thinking we were going to have to say good bye to you. Yet again you rallied and let us know that it wasn’t time yet. You gave us another year of your love and devotion. Squeaky little bark at dinner time letting us know we weren’t going fast enough, or “yelling” at your brother Buster when he was trying to crowd you.

Today however you let us know that you needed to go be with your brothers and sister. Your little lungs just couldn’t go on any more and although it was very difficult to do I held you and told you it was okay as you drifted away to the bridge. Have fun little buddy and tell Mookie, Jack and Gracie that we miss them too. Until we meet again sweet boy.

Love you always,
Scrappy
