Segundo by McGregor / All the Cats, Mummy, Your Brother John

I feel a numbness, but a lightness of being.

You were in my life for such a short period of time,
Yet you brought me many many
a happy and thoughtful moment.

A dear brother, a dear son, you were like my brother in arms.
Your look, your purr, the way you pranced,
All had a certain joy of life.

I will miss you, but more than that I will cherish your memory,
And thank the Gods that you were taken in your prime.

‘You are my Segundo, my special special boy!
My special gift from the LORD!’
The LORD gives,

The LORD takes away.

Now I feel hapless, wondering what next empty moment I must endure.

No sign of you at the dinner table,
No waiting for you to return home,
No hugs or embraces like a dear friend.

All gone, but a memory.
Oh LORD,
May Segundo be remembered and blessed.
May he be remembered and blessed well.
Give me comfort in these times O LORD,
Give me comfort in this time.

Grant me a friendship to fill in the void – for he was like a dear dear friend.
Now he is taken away from me,
buried, soil covered on top.

He is no more.

We love you, Segundo.
