SISSIE by Cindy Cameron / mama

Sissie was one little peke who knew
what she wanted and
she knew how to get it.

After losing my chihuahua, I decided to get a new companion. I had thought about it and decided I wanted a black female pomeranian, so I checked the ads in the local newspaper.

I found several listed, so I wrote the numbers down to call to inquire about them in the morning. I called the first number and asked them if they had a black female pup to which they reply, YES. They had two of them in fact. So I set a time up to go check them out over my lunch hour the next day.

Imagine my surprise when I get there and find seven PEKINGESE! I had gotten a line off in the ads and wrote the number for the last PEKINGESE instead of the first POMERANIAN.

Well, the rest is, as they say, HISTORY. Sissie was the only red peke, her siblings were all black. But, she latched on to me immediately and did not leave my side the whole time I was there. I fell under her spell and decided to get her, telling them I would be back to get her after work.

When I drove up in their yard that evening, she was waiting at the door for me – the other dogs were all running through the house and playing with each other. They said Sissie had been waiting at the door for me to come back all afternoon.

For the next 11 years,
she was always waiting for me at the door
when I got home.

Gone from my side, but not my heart,
SISSIE
