Smidgen by Alexa Schultz / Mommy

For my 13th birthday I received a kitten. Being the cat person I am I ended my party early to be with her. I named her Smidgen. I stayed with her for I month. I was getting excited about bringing her to my grandma’s house for thanksgiving to show everyone my Smidgen. One day we got a phone call saying her two brothers got some sort of fatal disease and one was recently put down. I bawled even though I never met these kittens. Later on my mother was searching the disease on google. The symptoms were pot-bellied stomach, lethargic, and ALOT of sleeping, exactly Smidgen. The next monday when I was at school I was picked up early by surprise. My dad explained Smidgen visited the vets and (this part makes me cry the most) the vet came in crying telling my mom she had the disease. I took her to the ASPCA, knowing it was the last car ride with her. When she was put to sleep, she was laying in my arms purring. She was injected, meowed one last time, her heart stopped beating ( I felt it) and died.

I love you my baby Smidgen. Even though I only knew you for 1 month you were my favorite birthday gift ever. Even though I have two new sister kittens I will never enjoy their cuteness as I did to you.

Say hello to Scruffy, Hobo, and Cinnomon.

Love You Baby,
Smidgen
