Smoki

Dog

Before I begin my story

I would like to thank the people who started In Memory of Pets.

May our Lord always bless you and all your family.

My brother Tony and I got Smoki and his sister Yogi

when they were puppies in November 1986.

They didn’t have anyone that wanted them; so my brother and I took them home with us.

They were so cute. Two little black fur balls.

Like two little black cub bears.

Anyway we lived in an apartment at the time and

we were not allowed to have pets.

We took them anyway! As time went on;

I remember I used to sleep with them in the kitchen at night

just like if they were real babies to me.

I used to give them milkbones as they got older.

I remember when I would say the words milkbones cheese who wants to eat papas

it’s time to memes; (which means who wants to go to sleep);

they would always jump and get excited.

A few years after we got Yogi and Smoki BooBoo came into our lives.

He is their younger brother. Sadly BooBoo came from an abused home.

He was so scared when we brought him home.

But eventually he learned to know that he would never get hit in this home.

Then we got Patches a cat who’s mom didn’t want her.

Then there’s Panda a beautiful cat my brother found in the landfill

where he used to work dumping garbage.

I could not believe someone would dump a poor kitten in a landfill.

We also got Gidget; a little terrier.

They were going to put her down because these certain people were moving;

and they didn’t want her anymore.

So we said: “Bring them over to the zoo that takes in all the unwanted animals.

I remember Smoki was the boss of all the group.

He was the oldest so naturally he always led them all.

In the summertime; Smoki used to sit in a certain spot under our apple tree.

He used to eat all the apples that would fall down. He was so special.

He was never finicky. When he got sick; I didn’t even know he was sick.

Even in suffering; he never complained. It is really hard to celebrate the holidays

because he died right after Thanksgiving Day.

We took his death so hard. My brother is still angry I think.

But I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for being in my life.

In God’s Word in the Book of Proverbs chapter 12

the Lord speaks about how a righteous man regards the life of his beast.

How comforting! But I know one day I will see my “Smoki Bear” again.

His sister really misses him. We all do.

Losing Smoki only made me stronger in the Lord.

Since his death the Lord has put people in my path that have lost pets.

Now God uses me to pray with them;

because I can relate with what they are going through. Remember people;

thank our Lord for the years you have with your pets.

Whether it be one or twenty. Thank Him.

I will see you Smoki in the animal kingdom

that the Lord speaks about in the Book of Isaiah.

See you at the Bridge my love. My “Smoki Bear”.

Love you always

Your human mom

BerNadett the “Panda Lady”.
