Snixie came into my life and left in mystery. He’d been found on a busy street abused and probably abandoned. I had lost my Princess a black Cocker after 15 years of joy with her and had no plans of ever getting another dog.
He was found by a vet and advertised in the newspaper and I said, mostly to stop people from asking that yes, if no one claimed him, I’d take him. They ran an add for three weeks. No one claimed him and so he became mine, sight unseen. He had Heartworm, he was scared of everything and had the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen.
I loved him the moment I saw him and he became my dearest friend for nearly eleven years. He learned to trust me and after much time he began to trust others. He loved his walks and hanging out under my desk at work. That’s where he was the day of the 24th., under my desk, surfacing to share everyone’s lunch. He seemed fine though a bit more tired and a bit confused as we went upstairs for the night. In the morning he had slipped away. He looked like he was sleeping. That day my heart broke and I cannot seem to mend it. He was such a wonderful dog and appeared to be in the best health he’d been in for a long time. He was back in his old neighborhood, walking in the park we always walked in. He was my baby and I miss him so.
I hope he is with Princess and that they are happy and waiting for me to join them when it’s the right time. I see him everywhere and feel him but I can’t touch him or hold him. I love my Snixie and to anyone who has had the same loss my heart aches for you.
