Lord * I hope there’s dirt in Heaven * You know my dog he really likes to dig * And I pray you’ve got a heck of a lot * Cause the holes in my yard are big * Now if you’ve got some dirt in Heaven * It’ll keep him busy as he can be * Then he won’t have time to fill his mind * With thoughts of him and me * I know he’s gonna miss the things he did * while he was on this earth * Like licking ice cream cones and chewing peanut butter bones * And digging in the dirt * Oh I know he really cared about the things we’d shared * Can’t believe how much it hurts * But I’ll be ok if you’ll just say * Heaven has a lot of dirt * Remembering when I was young * The stories I’d been told * About a beautiful place beyond some pearly gates * And streets paved with pure gold * I’d heard of mansions made of marble * The greenest grass and the greenest trees * But I ain’t ever heard that you’d had dirt * Out past the Evergreens * So Lord I pray there’s dirt in Heaven * If there isn’t fix this hole in my heart * And send ole Soloman back home again * To finish digging holes out in the yard * Yeah, I wouldn’t mind if I could find *
Him digging holes out in the yard.
