Sparky by Ruth

My Sparky was my best friend. He would wake up when I opened my eyes every morning. He would climb out from under my bed and greet me each day with love. He traveled everywhere my husband and I went. His favorite place to go was Grandma’s house because she had a big tree in her back yard with squirrels he could bark at; it was an 8 hour trip but he just wanted to be with us.

His favorite snack in the winter was Tapioca pudding. He would lay in the kitchen as it cooled and when the dinger on the microwave dinged he would jump up and come and get us to serve it for him in his own bowl on a spoon! He was a good friend to our other animals too even the cats.

His best buddy was Rocko a small terrier mix who loved squeeky footballs. When they would lay chewing chewies Sparky would finish his 1st then want Rocko’s. So he would go to the toy corner and get a football bring it over and squeek it then drop it in front of Rocko! Then he would steal the chewie!

He was quite the Little Guy. He suffered from Cushing’s Syndrome the last 3 years but with meds we had him that much longer. I layed with him on the floor as our vet put him down and told him I loved him his job here was done and he had been a very good boy. He died peacefully Monday April 23rd 2001 at 11 loving years of age.

I will miss him always.
