Spunky by Floyd Family

" Spunky "

1984 ---- July 29 2000

Spitz

Spunky belonged to my children's elderly grandparents,

Willard and Jimmye Floyd.

After somebody shot and killed their Spitz in their front yard in 1984

they were heartbroken. In an attempt to ease their sorrow

my husband went to the animal shelter and bought them

another Spitz that looked almost identical to their last pet

and they named her Spunky.

Spunky never did anything heroic. She never won

a ribbon in a pet show.

But Spunky was faithful to bark when the mail came

and walk to the mailbox with Mawmaw .

When Granddad would go to work in his garden she would

follow him and sit and watch him work.

Other than that you could find her curled up resting in

the corner of their carport.

She was a gentle-spirited little dog.

As she got older her teeth got bad she developed cataracts

and was nearly deaf. After a brief illness Granddad found her dead

beside his truck when he started out for work one morning.

They have been heartbroken and declare they will never love

another dog again since this hurts so much.

See ya later Spunky!

Wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge

with Snoopy and Magoo.
