Sunny Sunshine of Mayday by John and Marta May

I am writing this little tribute to the love of my life. Sunny came into our lives almost 12 years ago as a 10 week old puppy, much larger than the rest of her litter. She had seven sisters.

No one had purchased her because of her size, but she and her daddy and I fell in love instantly.
As she became one year old, it was obvious that she had some severe leg problems. Through the years we did everything for her possible.
The amazing thing was that she never complained. You would never know she had problems. She later developed cancer which we had removed from her breast.

Again no complaints from her – you would never know. She was the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever known. I know most “parents” say that about their pets, but I wish everyone
on earth could have known her.

She was beautiful – was chosen to be in two different USHS calendars, and also won several beauty contests in town. The last two years of her life, she was handicapped and not able to walk – I was responsible for taking her out, carrying food and water to her – basically, her legs. Again, she was happy with that – just to be with us.

We lost Sunny on 1/31/06. She took my heart and soul with her as I watched her slip away. Our lives won’t be the same – ever. As she faded, I whispered to her to “Run, as soon as you get there. Be happy, healthy and RUN”. I hope that she is running right now.

You are the love of my life.
