Rescuing a pet is always a wonderful gift. Sunshine came to us from Best Friends Animal Rescue in NJ. He was approximately 2 years old and we were told that he as abused and had a difficult time bonding with men. For some reason, Sunshine never had that difficulty with my husband. They had an immediate bond that lasted 11 years.
For me, it took a while longer. Sunshine was skittish. Loud noises freaked him out and anyone who was with him during a thunder storm, will never forget it! He was on the larger size and I needed to show him who was the alpha dog. As time went on, he developed such a trust in me and he followed me everywhere. He was very smart and easily trainable. He always listened to me and my demands (sorry dad). We was my shadow and true to his namesake, he brought me sunshine every day of his life.
I will never forget the vacations we took him on, the beach, car rides, and his special “smile””. He has a place in my heart always.
