Persian Cat

Tanya came into our lives as a tiny 10 week old kitten. We had

never had a cat before but Tanya shared her birthday with Helen's

childhood dog so we felt this was a kind of omen.

Tanya was very timid with strangers but to those who took the trouble to

get to know her there were great rewards. She was an extremely sensitive

cat she knew if you were unhappy and would come and sit with you. If we

had a row she would decide which of us was the most upset and go and

sit with that person and glare at the other for causing the upset. This

made us laugh so much that all argument ceased!

Tanya was a very pretty girl but the only compliment she liked was to be

told she was a good girl which of course she was.

Tanya adored going in her garden where she prowled around the

undergrowth and was ruler of all she could see. She took on cats twice

her size who dared to enter her garden and invariably won. She loved to

bring us gifts such as worms and frogs so it was unfortunate that she

was rather good at catching them!

Tanya also liked life indoors she sometimes watched TV but only if it

was snooker "Tom and Jerry" or "One Man and His Dog" (sheepdog trials;

we think she fancied herself as the first sheep-cat!). When our boy

kitten arrived she was known to hold him prisoner to start with but she

soon accepted him and they became good friends.

When Tanya became ill her amazing spirit served her well how she

fought we thought she would not see Christmas in at one point but she

wasn't having any of that she wanted her Christmas turkey (2.5 bowls of it)!

But even a fighter like Tanya could not fight forever and now she has

gone and it is like a corkscrew in my heart as Mr. Dylan puts it.

She is buried in the garden she loved so much and we and

Harpsichord her brother miss her desperately.

Rest in peace darling Pusskins

you are such a good girl.
