Teddy Bear was our rescue puppy. He was adopted around 1993, and came into a loving home. Through the years, it was found that there was a possibility that he was abused in some way. None of us could put our face near his without him biting us. Afterwards, he was always so apologetic after we said something to him.
He was able to accept his big brother Bandit, but when Bandit was put to sleep due to heart failure and kidney failure, he became our Alpha dog. When we brought home our other boys (Bandit 2, Snowy, Jaycee, and Cruiser), he accepted them, but didn’t have much to do with them,
except for Snowy.
Last week, he started to shake and walk strangely. He visited the vet, and it was found that he probably had a disc problem. After being put on medication, he started to improve, until this morning.
Teddy Bear loved to sleep either with us or his sister Sarah, and last night he slept with me and Steve. This morning, he went to walk over me to move to another place on the bed, when he let out a yip. He laid down again and slept a little, and seemed a little better when I got up. I helped him off the bed and then helped him to go outside, and he seemed okay. When I saw that he was ready to come in, I went to help him, but he wanted to do it himself. Halfway into the house, he let out a loud yelp, and kept yipping. I picked him up, but he was still in a lot of pain. I put him on the bed with me, and he tried to lay up against me and relax a little. It also seemed that the pain decreased some. He did look extremely sad, though.
He was released from his pain at approx. 3 pm today, and now he is playing with his brother Bandit and is pain free.
Teddy Bear, you will always have a special place in our hearts, and you will be missed by all of us.
With all of our love,
