Tickles & Max by Christine

In Memory Of

" Tickles and Max "

Cats

Tickles and Max were my two childhood cats.

I don't even remember when Tickles came to live with us.

My mom told me we named her Tickles because on the

way home with her I tickled her belly.

She was my cat a Siamese so a little snobby but I

think she loved us in her own way.

Tickles had diabetes and we had to give her shots everyday.

We took her to the vet while we went on vacation one year.

We got back and my mom went to get her I was in the

bathroom shaving my legs and my mom came in to tell me

that she died. I never quite forgave her for telling me

while I was shaving my legs however I look back at

that and laugh now.

The vet said that Tickles just was so lonesome that she

decided to leave us without putting us through seeing her die.

She was thirteen.

Max was the coolest cat. He was so affectionate.

I remember when we got him I was still very young and

I got up one nite and crept into the living room and

my dad was laying on the floor and on top of him was the

littlest kitten. I crept back to bed without them knowing

I had been up I didn't want to ruin the surprise.

Max was a stray my dad was under the car one day

changing the oil and the kitten wouldn't stop sucking on

his toes or crawling on his belly.

It seemed that he wasn't even weaned from mamma yet.

We had to feed him by hand for a little while.

Max was my dad's cat he used to crawl up on his lap

and plop down on dad's magazine and not move

until dad pet him. He also used to lick my dad's face

as if he was cleaning it. He was such a good cat.

He passed away just recently from old age.

I am now out of the house but I guess my dad was really

hurting from it. In fact when he took him to the vet

to be put to sleep the vet suggested going to look for another

cat and my dad said not yet that he didn't think he'd find

another one like Max with all the personality of him.

But a couple of days later he went to the center and came

home with a new cat who is so much full of himself,

still very lovable but so full of personality too.

His name is Mr. Cat.

I am so glad my dad found a new cat to keep him company

not to replace Max but maybe help dad along a little bit.

To Tickles and Max

Cheers to wherever you are!!
