This is for the BEST DOG who ever lived. Trixie was a 12 pound poodle-terrier mix who looked like Benji with a short tail. She was always happy and a joy to be around. Her name was chosen because it means ‘one who brings joy’. I got her when I was eight and we were inseparable. Her best friend was a boxer named ROXIE who belonged to our neighbor. Roxie moved away in 1985 but Trixie made new friends constantly. She loved other dogs tried to understand why our cats didn’t like her and even helped me care for various birds hamsters gerbils rats and mice over the years. She was buddies with our rabbit HEATHER and even protected her on one occasion. She was the best friend I told all my secrets to and she was always there for me no matter what.
In 1998 we got a puppy (TRIXIE’S PUPPY) and she carefully and patiently tought LADY everything a pup needed to know. A year later when Trixie started having health problems it was Lady who took over and guided Trixie becoming her eyes and ears. Trixie passed away on January 5 2000 at the age of 16. She will never be forgotten and she will always be loved. In September of 2000 we got another puppy a little dachshund-poodle who we named SINBAD. I had dreamed Trixie was going to send us a little grey puppy but didn’t think much of it because we were going to wait until after the holidays to get a puppy. Four days later we got Sinbad! When I think back to all the events that had to happen for us to be able to get him I just KNOW in my heart that Trixie sent him. So this last part is to you TRIXIE;
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND I PROMISE TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF BOTH YOUR PUPPIES! I LOVE YOU AND WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU; EVEN NOW I AM CRYING BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HERE. BUT I KNOW YOU ARE SAFE AND NOT IN PAIN ANYMORE AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. I LOVE YOU TRIXIE!!!! HAVE FUN UP IN HEAVEN AND SAY HI TO EVERYONE FOR ME!
LOVE YOUR SISTER JENNIFER
