Tulip by Dana Davis / Mommy

Tulip, you are my first guinea pig. My special girl. I got you from the rescue when you were a few months old. You have been quite a character. True to the Abby nature, you are a snapper if disturbed from your eating or beauty rest. I love you so much!

I had you a couple of months and you became ill. Your molars needed trimming. A couple of days after the surgery, you still weren’t acting right so I took you back to the vet for a checkup. It turned out you have congestive heart failure. You take medication twice a day and seem to be doing well. It’s hard to believe you have been taking medication for nearly five years now.

You have a nice, big C&C cage – 2 by 5 grids with a 2 x 1 grid side extension. You really enjoy your hay and get so excited when I get the pail out. You know yummy hay will soon come.

As you have gotten older, you’ve lost weight. You are quite boney these days, but are still my lovely girl. You are active and quite vocal at times. Sometimes you will wheek loudly when I open the fridge or am in the kitchen. I will usually give you a treat of lettuce of carrot for your efforts.

I can’t say how much I love you, my Tulip girl. You’re not much of a lap pig, but seem to enjoy being talked to. You love your little alligator to sleep in; also your huts. Even though you have two water bottles, you mostly drink from one.

Tulip, you are my grand old lady and I love you so, so much.

Love,
Tulip
