I adopted Maggie in 1993 from my local SPCA.She had been featured on 1 of our local TV stations 3 times but no one adopted her. Something about the sadness in her eyes compelled me to go see her. I learned that Maggie, who was between 5-7 yrs., had been badly abused and then abandoned by her previous “humans.” She had been at the shelter for 4-5 months and no one had expressed any interest in her. But I saw something….and adopted her to become a part of my family.
Her full name became Maggie Blossom,as she blossomed from a timid, fearful dog into a sweet, gentle matron. Children, even those afraid of dogs, were drawn to Maggie because of her quiet, gentle nature. They loved to pet her lustrous long black-tipped, copper colored fur. When her ‘butt’ was scratched, Maggie would do her “butt dance” which made the children laugh…and scratch her butt even more. Maggie loved it!! She was such a sweet gentle soul wrapped in a dog’s body.I had the honor and the gift of having her in my life for almost 13 years…until today when I sadly, reluctantly had to let her go. I will miss my friend…
I will miss how sweet her fur smelled when warmed by the sun. I will miss her smile. I will miss cooking for her because as she aged, she wouldn’t eat dog food. I will miss all the gifts she gave me…and be thankful for every day she was in my life. Goodbye my sweet, gentle friend.
Thank you for your love!
I konw that we will be together again!
