Losing Kodi
There’s a hole in our heart where a dog used to be.
He nuzzled our soul and was part of us you see.
He had pain is his life and we knew what to do.
But when we release him, we lost us, too.
The puppy we cradled eight short years ago
a hundred & fifty pound bundle of love and we knew
that he’d lick away all of our tears if he could.
It’s his sense of duty to make us feel good.
It’s our obligation to do what is best.
The love of his “master” is put to the test.
It’s a wrenching and sorrowful way that we part;
it doesn’t hurt less when the head rules the heart.
There’s a hole in our hearts
where our Kodi has passed through.
When we said goodbye part of us went too…….
Mister Kodi Man we will miss you!!
