pookie by Nancy Tribble / Momma

So this is where we parted, My little lute lute
and you’ve run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from my mind,
new pleasures there you’ll surely find with odie by your side.

I had to go on, I had to find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you left,
shared one last look, before the grief set in.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren’t you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you’ve taught.

Your place I’ll hold in my heart, you will be missed, the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you have gone on to your final rest,
I hope you took this with you …I loved you best. I still love you more than the rest.
They’re just not my little pookie
