You brought joy back into my heart
after “Bingo” died.
I thought I’d never smile again.
But there you were, jumping all over me;
your eyes pleading “pick me!”
You chased the kids,and they laughed at your antics. The 3 of you grew up together. You had two homes. You were grandpa’s “friend,”
he loved to “babysit.”
When a visitor came, you’d get your toys and offer to play. “Wanna go for a walk?” made you bark and dance. You always had to be next to us.
But time goes on, and your eyes dimmed. You couldn’t hear us call your name. Your mind and body were failing. We had to let you go.
Now we have to remember all the good years, not this last one. You weren’t you anymore. Forgive us the times we lost our patience.
Humans do that sometimes.
Thank you, Erin, for the almost 15 years you gave us. You’re Grandpa’s dog again. Please wait for us by the Rainbow Bridge. We’ll be there.
You’re in our hearts forever.
