Yellow Labrador
My mom got our dog about a year before I was born.
I grew up with the lovable mut my whole life. We played together
and got in trouble together.
He grew seven times what I did so when I was twelve
he was old and started showing signs of arthritis.
It grew so bad that one day my mom decided to put him to sleep.
She woke me up one an April morning and told me it was time.
I cried forever and I would not let him go until my mom put
him in the car. I decided to go with my mom the shortest hardest
car ride I have ever been on. When we got there I had to help
Max out of the car and pull him into the back room.
There I held and hugged my best bud (bud ever since I was put
on this earth) through his last breath and his last ounce of pain.
It was the hardest day of my teenage life.
I was able to decide where he was to be buried.
I picked my uncle’s farm because we both loved to go
out there and run and play all day.
My mom dug a hole and rested his lifeless body into his grave.
My mother asked if I wanted to stay and I told her “Yes” because
he was always there for me and I would always be there for him.
Max left my life in a moment but he will never leave my heart.
The loss of a pet is very hard if you think about it they never
really leave. They are always in your heart.
And I know that when I get to heaven I will see Max and
my father waiting for me at the gate.
So Max ,
I miss you and can’t wait to see you bud.
