Blue by Sherry Collier / Mom

Approximately two years ago the best dog I ever had walked into my life. I had actually lost a black lab about 6 months prior to meeting “Blue”. I didn’t think I was ready for another dog. My sister called me and told me that she found a dog and he had been run over. She took him to the vet and he had a broken leg. She wanted to know if I wanted him. At first I said no. Then about 3 weeks later I went to see my sister and all it took was one look at Blue and he was coming home with me.
I fell in love with him that day.

I had him a little over two years and the bond we shared was deep. He would sleep with me at night and hug me. I loved the way he would roll over and want me to rub his belly and I swear the dog would smile. He brought me such joy. As time went on we became so close that he became so special to me. I couldn’t imagine my life without him and then the unspeakable happened. He died.

What makes it harder is it was a senseless death. Someone shot him twice and killed him. He was in my yard when I found him. I don’t live in a bad neighboorhood as that would suggest. I live out in the country. Anyway it has been 3 months now and I am going to try to get me another dog but no dog will ever take the place of my beloved “BLUE”

I will always love you,
Blue
