Maximus Faticatus by Melissa Ranks / Mommom

The decision was made. Booker needed some house-mates to keep her company while we were at work. So, I went to the Petsmart adoption day and there you and your surrogate mom were. I Loved you the instant I saw you. Black and white with just small little stump of a tail.

You were so loving. You immediately bonked me on the head as your way of saying thanks. I brought you home and Daddy said, “Now, how am I supposed to pick on him? He has no tail!” But, he loved you just the same. Your silly antics made us laugh. The love you had for your sister Booker and surrogate mom Lola and then the puppy
never ceased to amaze me.

Then one day, I noticed you looked thin. I took you to the vet. UTI, he declared it. So we treated you, but nothing changed. We fought long and hard. Daily trips to the vet so they could give you the medicine instead of you having to stay over night because you missed your sister
so bad that you got worse.

Then, the horrible news that the ultra sound brought. An unknown disease that the vets had never seen but the ultrasound technician did 3 times before. Each time, the cat died within 2 weeks.
You lived 10 more days.

I tried so hard to save you. You were my best friend. My special fat man. I’m so sorry you had to die. I wish that I could have saved you. There will never be another like you. You will always be my Maximoo.
I love you.

Love you with all my heart,
Maximus Faticatus
