Buster Baker by Larry, Laura and Karlynn Baker / Mommy

When Buster was still a puppy, his father and I had picked up a chocolate cake from the grocery store. Now we know that dogs are NOT allowed chocolate so before we left we made sure to put the cake on the counter in the kitchen (in a corner, no less). We figured since he had trouble even getting up and down from the family room furniture, surely it would be safe.

How could he get up there anyhow, right?

So we leave……

To our surprise, HE DID IT. He ate the whole cake. The WHOLE chocolate cake. We thought for sure he was going to die right then and there or be really, really sick. He was fine. He was absolutely fine.

Here, he had gotten up on the dining room chairs, then onto the dining room table. From there, he jumped to the counter in the kitchen and over to the corner with the cake. He must have gotten so excited that he began to eat up there and it fell to the floor. We arrived and the box was destroyed and the cake was all gone. There sat Buster. He looked so happy. We yelled a little at him, but after all – he was a pup and ultimately it was our fault for not thinking he was smart enough to figure out how to get at the yummy cake!

I love you Buster and miss you terribly.
