April 1992 – February 2007
Gelie departed this life at noon February 14, 2007. Dr. Lisa Wohlkind and staff member Stephanie George of Emmitsburg Veterinary Hospital were at Gelie’s side together with her loving companions Amy and Larry. We mourn Gelie’s passing and are grateful we could help her leave this life with dignity. We were especially blessed to have Dr. Wohlkind’s loving support and acknowledge her recent loss of Julia, a dear companion cat. We were unable to take Gelie to her life long veterinarian Dr. Dale Rubenstein, of A Cat Clinic, due to a snow storm. We thank Dr. Rubenstein and the staff past and present for their excellent and loving care for Miss Gelie. We also would thank family and friends for their support during this time of loss.
Larry and Amy are giving much love to Gelie’s littermate, Charles, as he too adjusts to life without Sister. Charles was Gelie’s constant companion during the final days of her life.
We have many wonderful memories of Gelie. She brought much laughter and many smiles through the years. As is the case with all young cats, Gelie was a spirited kitten! Chasing toes under covers, playing with toys, chasing mice or chattering at birds, sleeping on Amy’s lap, whatever she did she gave it her best. She loved visiting with Larry in the early morning hours for food and attention. Gelie played nonstop with Sara and Larry on their visits, (lovingly known as “The Invasion of The Little People)” only to take to her bed afterwards for a bliss filled rest.
We would like to share the following verse with you as we celebrate Gelie’s life and treasure her memory.
We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan . . . .
