Our Patches was 19 years old. She was a loving companion to us both right up to the end. She was suffering from a thyroid condition of which she was being treated for. She continued to lose weight and several days before she passed – she stopped eating entirely. We tried to coax her with all her favorite foods to no avail. She became wobbly and couldn’t walk far without falling down. Horrible to watch her suffer like that. We held her and petted her and she continued to purr softly. She lost her hearing and vision became impaired as well. I made an appointment for the vet because we could not stand to see her suffer. The night before we went out to dinner and when we got home we saw her at the bottom of the stairs. I thanked God for not having to take her to the vet – a gut wrenching experience. Thanks for the 19 years Patches! We will miss you 🙂
