10 Months on without Duffy Dog

The house is quite,
No dog bed or toys are seen,
The cat tries her best,
But a meow, even in its loving best
Needs a bark to make it complete.
Cheerful grins and waggy tails,
No longer greet at the door,
Nor at sunrise and sunset of day,
The noise is no more.
Walks in darkness and in light,
In changing seasons, wet and dry,
The paddy paws tread in time,
Listening to things on your mind,
All are no more.
The silence is stifling,
No Christmas presents to buy,
No blanket to wash,
No fur to hug and for hours to brush.
You read lots of woofy magazines,
Just to feel close to the canine kin,
Seeing breeds high and low,
Spotting the ones who look like them.
The house is too quiet,
So you feel their blessings,
For soon in spring to visit,
To become a dog owner again,
Cause you’re the very best.

Hugs from pets
at Rainbow Bridge fields,
giving permission to help others
who wait just like they did.
See you Battersea in the spring.

Always in my thoughts,

Love
Patricia Hutchings
