Apache by Jackie McKenna / Your Mama

Dear Apache James,

It has only been 3 days since I had to let you go but these 3 days have been the hardest in my life. I only had you for 2 years after I saved you from the pound but those 2 years were the best of my life. You were my best friend who I could tell all my secrets too and you always were there for me when I needed you.

I will always remember and think of you when I pass a 7-11, and I’m glad you got to turn 8 before you passed, I hope you liked your birthday even though I had to carry you to the water, I know you liked that spot and every time I go there I’ll think of you. I am a lucky kid to have had such an amazing dog like you. I will never forget all the times you made me laugh when I needed to smile or all the kisses and tail wags I’d get when I would come home from school.

I’ll never forget your soft brown eyes and your cute lil curls behind your ears I loved so much, or the floppy ear I’d call your “Border Collie Ear” while the other one stood straight up like a “Husky Ear”. You were a beautiful boy and are now a beautiful angel, whom I hope is watching over me, every step I take.

I hope you liked your burial and I chose Amazing Grace to play in this tribute because as I laid you to rest in the backyard I played this song on the bagpipes, because you were such an Irish Boy and I was always so proud of you, always willing to let me dress you up in silly outfits, never complaining your paws hurt when I’d take you for long walks and always making the funniest noises when I’d rub your belly. I will miss you to the day we meet again, and I will always love you with all my heart and soul, don’t ever forget me as I won’t you, I love you Apache James.

Love Always and Forever,
Apache
