Maxie by Mommy / Mommy

Maxie was a Golden Retriever mix dog that we adopted from a rescue shelter. She had just had a litter of puppies. All of the puppies were adopted and she was left alone. She was extremely fearful of people, so much that she shaked and would not look you in the eye. From the moment I saw her, we had an instant connection. I knew I wanted to take her home and give her the love and attention she deserved. She was 1 1/2 when we adopted her and she got into some puppy trouble. But over the next 2 1/2 years, she became a loving family pet. She slowly grew to trust people and I loved her every day.

Maxie, I am so sorry that our son is too young to remember you. You left us so young and so suddenly that I am having a hard time coping with your death. I don’t know what to do without you. You were my best friend. Joey and Teddy are lost without you too. I know you are at peace and I will never forget you. I know I have to let you go, but it is so hard. I can still see you running in the yard or sleeping next to me. I love you so much. You brought so much joy to my life, I can only hope I did the same for you. I hope we will see each other again one day. I will never forget you.
